Everyone always asks what makes The Office unique and while I can talk about the blueprint, I wanted to focus on one aspect of this unique blueprint. My whole vision comes from decades of traveling across the world and pursuing my passion for fitness. This allowed me to see all sorts of gym designs, equipment selection, gym management choices, club atmosphere, and target fitness demographics.
If we just focus on the US, the fitness industry is a 30B industry. Yes, I said a 30B industry. Does that mean we can capture 10% or a majority of the industry, not likely but we can most certainly deliver a new fitness culture and experience which targets the largest demographic for fitness enthusiasts. While all of these pieces are coming together, one area that helps deliver a unique training experience is to introduce high tech solutions and more modern strength training equipment.
This is why we have made the choice to partner with Arsenal Strength, Westside Barbell, and Dynabody. What we want to offer is a unique training experience that you can only find here at The Office. We carefully selected these partners for their pursuit of advancing the strength training experiences by their R&D efforts. All of these fitness manufacturers have patented designs and decades of experience. They each continue to develop new equipment choices that help advance your training potential.
We have made a conscious decision to design this new fitness culture and experience without any indications of a corporate facility. This means “custom” or “premium” which many can appreciate. What I mean by “corporate” is:
- Standard Grey Hammer Strength equipment
- Standard Cardio equipment
- Dull or Bland atmosphere (just look at the interior color selections or graphics)
- Don’t address all fitness demographics like Functional Training, Powerlifting, Strongman/woman, Acceleration training, etc
- No Corrective Exercise Experience to help those with injuries
- No personal touches that give customers a feel of uniqueness
- No real connection with their paying members (it’s not about the money, its about investing in the community and individuals. If you do this right, the money will come).
The best part is, we don’t gouge our customers for making these unique choices and being different. We still offer a highly competitive monthly rate and bi-annual maintenance fee unlike many of the other choices. If you look at our bi-annual maintenance fee (fees collected to help invest in the maintenance and up-keep of aging equipment), we are considerably lower than the alternatives. In some cases you will have gyms who require a higher front-end signup fee or a longer contract commitment to achieve a lower monthly rate. In almost all cases, these other facilities will lock you into lock-tight contracts and make it difficult for you to get out of them. As an example:
- 30 days notice (they get another monthly fee)
- must be done “in-writing” which is a huge inconvenience
- stipulations for their contract termination like moving distance of 30 miles or more
I have heard them all and I have personally experienced them. This is why we don’t believe in these lock-tight contracts. We believe in earning your business every day and creating the best possible experience. We are not perfect but we certainly strive for excellence in all aspects of our business.
We are excited to continue to build and deliver the best fitness to culture to our gym family. It is true, we are building a family where we focus on helping others achieve their limitless potential.
Thank you for investing your time, your sweat equity, and your money. We appreciate each and every one of you. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your experience at The Office the best possible experience.
We love you ALL!
